HCR's First Ever Vinyl Release: HCR001 - Adam Collins - Get Me Started EP

We are over the moon to announce that we will be releasing our first ever vinyl record EP this summer! We finally got all the pressed vinyl from the factory and are excited to get it all prepped and ready to share with our community and the world. Keep an eye out for that to become available in our shop next month (July 2024).

For our first release, it was important to us to work with a DJ/producer that both embodied the ethos behind our label, could reach the sound we were after, and that was familiar. We ended up signing Adam Collins of Euphoria Records to the label. Adam is a longtime producer, a friend, and a mentor. It was beneficial to go through the process with him for our first time. We first met him and his partner, Zorana (Serbia), at an event we co-produced with Restless Planet (Seattle) in 2022 and we instantly sparked a lifelong friendship with them both. We even went to visit them in Miami and got to spend some quality time together. For this release, there was a lot of back-and-forth during the refinement of each track, and we put a lot of thought not only into the sound, but the playability for artists. We ensured that it was produced in a way to make the phrasing correct. Adam even said in the process, “it’s like making a baby together.” We are very proud of this release and we hope you love it as much as we do.

It's like making a baby together - Adam Collins, Euphoria Records, (Serbia, Miami, NYC)

Track Descriptions:

Side A

  • Get Me Started - Rhythmic pianos, bongos, high-energy, dancefloor groover; "Get Me Started" marks a refreshing departure from Adam’s classic Tech House sound. Seeking to explore new palettes and vibes, this track evolved from a collaboration with his good friend Bobby. Adam took a bold step in a new direction, infusing a heavy Juno 106 baseline to create an uplifting, summery outdoor vibe that's both happy and musical. It’s a vibrant, energetic tune that’s sure to ignite the dancefloor.
  • Upstart - Underground/basement, tracky, funky, pacey, groovy, moving track; "Upstart" was born from an unexpected inspiration during a trip to Chicago. One morning, Adam awoke to a woman loudly proclaiming to an empty street, "And the Lord said, maybe you’re gonna have to sign some papers." Capturing this quirky sample in his usual fashion, Adam transformed it into a tracky, funky groove. This underground gem is packed with pace and movement, perfect for the late-night crowd.

Side B

  • Kucni Snimak - Deep minimal, lively, mover; translated from Serbian as ‘Home Movie,’ "Kucni Snimak" is a deep minimal roller crafted during Adam’s time in Belgrade. Like many of Adam’s tracks, it was a live arrangement, written and recorded in just a few hours. The result is a musical, easy-going vibe, ideal for after-hours hangouts and chill sessions.
  • Vracar - eclectic groover; pronounced ‘Var-char,’ "Vracar" is named after a neighborhood in Belgrade where Adam composed the majority of these tunes. This track is a live arrangement and musical sketch, featuring the MC 303, Korg ER-1, and a chopped vocal sample to set the tone. It’s a stripped-down, eclectic piece that captures the unique essence of late night Vracar and Adam's creative process.

Each record will be special, because they are getting hand-stamped. We are personally going to label each record with a custom stamp so they all have that "underground" feel. Plus, we think it's cool and it'll be fun for us to put in that time and effort. It is indeed a labor of love. We will be leaving notes in some of the record sleeves, too! If you're lucky, you might get one. Also, for those that purchase a record, we will be sending you password protected access to the digital tracks. We will not be selling digital tracks separately.

Ever since founding this label in early 2021, we have been fighting an uphill battle to reach this major milestone. Whether it was the pandemic, ripple effects in the market due to the pandemic, life challenges, or other, we never lost sight of what we wanted to create. Something that helps our community feel connected to us, hear our sound, and how we want to use that as a point to bring people together. Also, we have a fresh perspective on what it's like as a new record label to go through this process for the very first time and will be writing about that in a new blog post coming soon. We will come back here to link that one. Thank you all so much for the unwavering support. We would not be here without you!
